I have a stunner of a micro wedding to share with you today! I created this woodland wedding shoot at Overgrown Acres to demonstrate how scaling back on size does not have to mean slacking back on detail. Take a look for bold, rich colours, opulent wedding styling and a stunning woodland backdrop. Enjoy!
As an outdoor wedding specialist, I was inspired by the woodland area at the Overgrown Acres tipi wedding venue near Nottingham. I’d always wanted to do a shoot with bold & rich colours and a sense of opulence, so I had a blast creating this woodland wedding! The focus of the industry is currently on micro weddings with COVID restrictions and I wanted to show that having smaller numbers on your wedding day means that you could really go to town on the details. Don’t hold back. The dark & bold colours work really well with the greenery & woodland setting. I loved the little touches of the woodland animals. And we added gold details for that touch of luxury in the hair vines and tablescapes.
I couldn’t have asked for a better team to help create & capture my vision. Sam from Samantha Hook Photography captured every detail and nuance. Fran from Limewood Flowers is an Eco Florist specialising in locally grown flowers with a low carbon footprint and her organic and natural style was the perfect match – as if the flowers had sprung from the countryside themselves. The detail and deep colours of summer dahlias were paired with Fairtrade scented roses, natural foliage, and smaller white pompom dahlias. The bouquet was in a contemporary and loose style matched with hand-dyed silk ribbons from Bertie & Fred.
The wedding cake from Strawberry Cupcakes was topped with a stag representing the woodland and matched the colour palette perfectly. Props were provided by myself and the team at the English Wedding Company to finish the look alongside matching stationery from Wild Calligraphy GB.
Fran from ‘Make up and Glow by Fran’ adapted her makeup to fit two styles of dresses from the team at Shade Bridal. The first look showed off the lips, using a deep red that matched the styling of the shoot and the dress. The second look was matched with a change of hairstyle from Rock n Roller Hair and took the focus to the eyes, using browns and golds making the eyes pop. All was complemented with beautiful accessories including a hair vine from Love 2 Sparkle.
The finishing touch to this woodland wedding was entertainment! The team from Busography photobooth joined us – Their vintage campervan with rustic and foliage backdrops really matched the theme – and of course, there were lots of props for fun wedding photos! Speaking of epic wedding photos, how gorgeous are these confetti shots, with dried petals from Dreaming of Confetti?
I hope you love this woodland wedding shoot as much as I enjoyed coordinating it! Want to talk weddings? You can contact me here or find out more here!
